XBMC Crashes Randomly When Using ProjectM
#1
Morning

First the info:
1: Kubuntu 8.04 2.6.24-24-generic (patched and up to date)
2: XBMC PPA SVN Built on Jun 17 2009 (SVN:21124)
3: Debug Log: http://ubuntu.pastebin.com/mb0b08d0
4: Backtrace: http://ubuntu.pastebin.com/m114d6578

XBMC crashes at random while playing music and using projectM. It throws this error in the console:

xbmc.bin: /build/buildd/xbmc-9.04.2+svn21124/xbmc/visualizations/XBMCProjectM/libprojectM/Expr.cpp:34: float GenExpr::eval_gen_expr(int, int): Assertion `item' failed.

This happens with Shoutcast or my mp3 collection

Any Thoughts?

Cheers!

That's a new one. Never seen that before.

Are you using any custom presets or just what's shipped with XBMC?

Have you been able to narrow it down to any specific presets?

Sounds like it may be hitting a preset it doesn't like. At least that's my guess.

Ya thats what i have been thinkin as well. I am using a Milkdrop Pack with like 8000 vis that came with some old T3CH version on my xbox. I have WAY to many to go through, but i have noticed that some dont display anything in projectM, where i have never had a vis fail on my xbox.

Xbox isn't projectM. Xbox is actually Milkdrop.

Use the default set that are in SVN with XBMC.

Clearly the crash is from projectM code. So it would be some issue there.

But I'm not sure projectM is compatible with all milkdrop viz or maybe it doesn't handle some errors as gracefully as milkdrop may.

Sorry.
