CD Ripping Issue
#1
Hello XBMC Linux community!

I just built a new HTPC yesterday using a Zotac Nvidia ION board with an Atom 330 chip. I followed the minimal install instructions sticky on these forums and things went pretty well. I seem to be having one issue atm that I can't figure out:

I can't rip CDs. I added the DVD drive as a source, right click the drive under the Music tab, and select Rip audio CD from the context menu but nothing happens. The CD will play just fine, but the ripping doesn't work at all. Any suggestions?

As a secondary issue, how would I add FLAC to the list of encoding options in the CD Ripping Settings?

Thanks for the help!

Apparently you still didn't read the stickies because I do not see a pastebin link to the debug log.

Apparently you caught me between edits. I did read everything and was still getting things put into the post as I retrieved them.
I'm trying to do things on 2 machines, so was pasting back and forth.

Seems like it can't create the directory to rip to:

Unable to create directory '/home/gtfyre/Music/The Dark Side of the Moon (Remastered)/'

You seem to have other issues too. Such as python issues.

Anyhow, this is about your ripping issue. Try this thread:

I also don't think anyone ever created the trac ticket as I recommend in the other thread so it never got fixed.

If your issue is the same, please file the trac ticket so it can be properly fixed.

Thanks! I edited the xml file and removed the additional directory info and everything is working. (As far as ripping CDs go.)

I looked at the log and see the Python notices... I honestly don't understand what those are trying to tell me. Any suggestions on how to fix that?

Also, is there a way to add FLAC to the encoding options? I've searched the wiki and the forums and don't come up with anything there.

I really appreciate your help and sorry if I've been a bit of a PITA.

Please file a trace issue for the cdrip bug or it will never get properly fixed.

As for your other issues, post different threads. Don't lump everything in here.

Just an fyi... When/if this gets fixed, it will probably break what you have manually entered in the guisettings.xml since what you have now is relative to your home directory whereas the path should be absolute (since that is what gets put there when you browse to the share).

Just warning you.
