This might be something... It seems that at the time when the process goes to 100% (which is always accompanied by the audio failing), this gets logged to /var/log/messages:

Code:
Oct  2 19:48:37 walter pulseaudio[30291]: main.c: Called SUID root and real-time and/or high-priority scheduling was requested in the configuration. However, we lack the necessary privileges:
Oct  2 19:48:37 walter pulseaudio[30291]: main.c: We are not in group 'pulse-rt', PolicyKit refuse to grant us the requested privileges and we have no increase RLIMIT_NICE/RLIMIT_RTPRIO resource limits.
Oct  2 19:48:37 walter pulseaudio[30291]: main.c: For enabling real-time/high-priority scheduling please acquire the appropriate PolicyKit privileges, or become a member of 'pulse-rt', or increase the RLIMIT_NICE/RLIMIT_RTPRIO resource limits for this user.

I've added my user to the pulse-rt (and the pulse) group as the message suggests. I'll report back whether or not this solves the issue.

Might give an idea of where the bug is in the xbmc code, however.

I've reproduced this issue without the wiiremote client connected. It happened shortly after startup. I started a video, there was no sound (my sound was muted) so i paused the video, unmuted the sound, then unpaused and the sound got very scratchy and the video fastforwarded ahead. This is consistent with what has been occassionally happening for months for me.

Here's a log file:

Also, I've upgraded since my earlier posts: XBMC pre-9.10r23626 (Compiled: Oct 12 2009)

Is there bug repository that I can submit this to? Seems like a pretty serious issue, no?
