This might be a dumb question, but I don't have any use for SPDIF if I am using HDMI do I?

I have my ASrock 330 hooked to my receiver via hdmi, then out to my tv and 5.1 speakers from there. There isnt any reason for SPDIF is there?

I have a movie encoded with DTS, and I can see when I play it that my receiver shows the DTS logo, so it looks to be decoding it correctly. Is there any need for this connector when I'm all hooked up via hdmi only?
