Install problems on Ubuntu
#1
Hi. im new to Ubuntu and Linux as well.
Have done this a few times now, but my last computer was to slow to show the 1080p movies so i upgraded it.

Now i have a problem when i try to install xbmc following the guide on http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_insta...ep-by-step

When i select the packages to install (it auto marks needed packages) but some of them cant/wont get marked (the files are different from witch package i select) an example is the "xbmc" package, then i get "xbmc-common" "xbmc-skin-pm3-hd" and "xbmc-web-pm3".
i find the packages if i search for them, but does not help me much..
Anyone know what to do ?

When you select the "xbmc" package, the dependencies are auto-marked for installation too. Just check-mark "xbmc" and install, and the other dependencies you've listed will automagically be installed along with it. (If you've setup all the correct PPA repositories).

yea, it`s when i select the one name "xbmc" the rest comes up as extras packages, i press "ok" to install em. thats when i get the error massage, that some packages wont get installed and the whole "install" stops.

edit:
xbmc:
Depends: xbmc-common but it is not going to be installed
Depends: xbmc-skin-pm3-hd but it is not going to be installed
Depends: xbmc-web-pm3 but it is not going to be installed

the error message i get.
When i try to install the "xbmc-common" i get this error
xbmc-common:
Depends: libfaac0 but it is not installable

i cant find "libfaac0" anywhere i search in Synaptic.

Do a "cat /etc/apt/sources.list" and reply here (wrap it in CODE tags for vBulletin). Sounds like something is turned off... "libfaac0" is part of the Ubuntu Multiverse repositories...

Just to double-check, you're using Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty), correct?
