MrDVD Wrote:Why you cant ?

I uninstalled via apt-get the 22290 svn and installed than via dpkg my old 22278 again.
Code:
dpkg -i xbmc-common_9.04.2+svn22278-jaunty1_i386.deb xbmc-skin-pm3-hd_9.04.2+svn22278-jaunty1_i386.deb xbmc-web-pm3_9.04.2+svn22278-jaunty1_i386.deb

you can also install via apt-get install xbmc=[svnVERSION] a version you want but this didnt work for me so i used dpkg.

THanks for that, learn something everyday. Can you install any PPA svn revision on a freshly installed system also ?

Sure, simply change the Status pulldown @ the svn ppa to "Any Status" and you will see all svn's.

If the install via apt-get didnt work simply download it and put it inside "/var/cache/apt/archives" and than use dpkg to install it.

So how do i remove the old svn version (sorry, I searched but could'nt find it).

I have to use apt-get? en then? Apt-get remove xbmc?

What should I type to remove just the svn?

Or can I just install the old svn with the info you provided and let it overwrite the newer version?

thanks in advance and sorry for being such a noob.

simply try it, its possible that the install from 22278 remove 22290.

If you want to remove 22290 before type "apt-get remove xbmc"

What i did was:

sudo apt-get remove xbmc

cd /var/cache/apt/archives/

ls xbmc-common* (to see which was the latest version i had prior to 22290, i had 22240)

sudo dpkg -i xbmc-common_9.04.2+svn22240-jaunty1_i386.deb xbmc-skin-pm3-hd_9.04.2+svn22240-jaunty1_i386.deb xbmc-web-pm3_9.04.2+svn22240-jaunty1_i386.deb

sudo reboot

now mine is back to normal. Hope that helps you.

WORKED PERFECTLY!! Thank you! I'm back at 21936 now and am going to make a full backup of my XBMC HDD, just in case this happens again!. It's funny coming from windows, where things were easy like this, I'm learning that linux can be just as easy, just in a different way.

I don't know if this will help at all. Just thought I'd mention it in case it's connected.

My advancedsettings.xml seemed to stop recognizing my:
<audio>
<ac3downmixgain>24.0</ac3downmixgain>
</audio>

setting as of the builds you all have mentioned. Rolling it back to 22252 fixed my problem as well. I'm using analog sound however. I pumped up the ac3 setting to the max of 96.0 to double check and the sound remained exactly the same. Hopefully this is fixed soon! I like staying up to date Smile

Oh.. I updated to 22312 and it didn't fix this either.

I'll update again and post a full log if anyone thinks it would be helpful.

Saw the Ticket #7085 on trac.

I noticed that SVN #22285 incorporated some audio updates that might have caused these audio problems. Im running #22283 without issues.

This thread has been discussing similar/same issues

Hello everybody.
A question: Has anybody reported this problem so the devs know about it?

/Daniel

edit: Oh, and has anybody pinpointed exactly when this started? Can't find anything in the changes between 22278 and 22290 that seems related. If I understand correctly the changes in 22285 aren't activated if compiling without --enable-external-libfaad and thus shouldn't affect ppa users.

Could someone post :
xbmc-common_9.04.2+svn22278-jaunty1_i386.deb
xbmc-skin-pm3-hd_9.04.2+svn22278-jaunty1_i386.deb xbmc-web-pm3_9.04.2+svn22278-jaunty1_i386.deb

...and the other 22278 .debs somewhere like rapidshare or etc? the xbmc=version syntax mentioned above appears to not work with the PPA archive, or I'm doing it wrong. Unfortunately, I don't have any old/good copy to revert to, in /var/cache/apt/archives/, because I just installed the PPA and patched directly to 22290.

sure could use a copy of 22278.. Smile

Hallo, i wrote also that you can change the output @ ppa when you change the status pulldown. Select "Any Status" and you see all svn Versions and not only the last one.
