in my collection there are a few films about 100 ish that are missing fan art, i i switch from imdb to amazon for example will i loose what ever information and artwork which was found on imdb?

I don't know offhand what will happen. A simple test should let you see what happens though. Move one movie that resolves correctly and one that doesn't to a different folder. Add that folder as a source and try out your scenario to see what happens.

I would suggest to everyone use a media Manager like ember that it wont matter as long as its only films.
But if not export you library first as single files with thumbs that way you wont loose anything.

Yeah Use something like MIP as a media manager and it will take care of all the images.
Obviously there are others, but I'd use an app over letting XBMC scrape for you.
