Has anyone tried using the Verizon Fios remote with XMBC? Is it possible?

bump. I am also looking into this. I am buying a USB IR receiver on ebay. In the FIOS remote guide I found the keycode for the original XBOX. Will the xbox code work?

Any tips/codes/suggestions would be sweet.

Edit: codes from the FIOS remote .pdf file
XBOX: 0549
Media Center PC/microsoft/dell/etc: 1999

So I guess when I get my usb receiver from ebay I will try 1999.

It appears to be working for me. You have to program it to the DVD button, but so far the directional arrows work, the OK button works and the Exit button is either back or it takes you to the home screen. Still testing as I type this. Your program the Verizon Fios remote by holding the DVD button down, then holding the OK button down, then let them both go, the remote blinks, then enter 0549, it blinks some more and it should work. This is for the original XBOX.

The Exit button does work like the back button on the original xbox remote. The only other button that I found that works is the Menu button, brings up the OSD during a movie. This is all I need so I am completely happy with this setup. Oh, the stop and pause buttons work like they should also.

Time to ressurect an old thread. I never got the FIOS remote to work on my setup (custom built box, MCE remote w/ IR), and now with Dharma RC1 I was hoping there might be some new developments to get this to work.

Anyone know of aything?

Yes, the Verizon FIOS remote DOES control many of the XBMC functions.

Ok, here's my setup. I, too got it to work as others have above.

The equipment that I use:
Running Windows 7
XBMC
You need to have the Microsoft remote control (at lest this is what i have) Like the one found here:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...No=1644435

Now, you dont need the remote, but you need the USB IR receiver that comes with it.

Now for the FIOS remote, I use the 4 option (4 device controller) remote that Verizon gave me.
I believe it's the Philips RC1445302 remote and im sure the Philips RC1445301 remote would work as well. If you dont have one of these 2 remotes, you'll have to experiment with what Verizon gave you.

You might be able to ID the Verizon remote that you have here:
http://www.verizon.com/Support/Residenti.../SetUp.htm

Now you need to program your Verizon Remote, and like others have said above, you must program the DVD button.

To program the Verizon remote, follow these steps:
http://www.verizon.com/support/residenti.../84900.htm
Remember, you'll use codes: 0549 or 1999 (1999 worked for mine)

That's the gist of it. Hope this helps others.

This really simplifies my setup and Im gonna score some brownie points with my wife Smile

Or just order a flirc, and program any remote you have laying around with it (I use my DTV remote on AV2).
It just emulates keyboard presses, so you can configure up almost anything you want.

Not as cheap as ebaying a windows MCE ir receiver/remote, but its very flexible. Working great for me, has me down to just one remote again!
