every now and then for a little while pressing return causes the screen to go black and then back to where it was with no change

comes and goes seemingly randomly

enter (on the number pad) works fine, but am using a laptop keyboard so a real hassel

You should upgrade to last stabe build 22516.

upgrading was my first thought but i've been seeing a bit of news about a branch merge and the latest build probably becoming unstable

if i use this revision number will it be ok?

yeah 22516 is 100% stable for me, i obviously cant say it will be on your setup but it should be

so i have installed 22516 and everything seems stable
but the return key is still not working from time to time

is there a work around?
I am thinking a way to un map return in the keymap but detect it with event ghost and trigger an enter keystroke?
