Single VS Dual Core Zotac
#1
I am looking into buying one of these 2 mobo's

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis...on&x=0&y=0

My questions is do I need the dual core?

This media center I am building is strickly going to be a "front end"
-its going to be running ubuntu with xbmc and boxee

The server is in the basement and i'm streaming iso's over GB network.

If I go with the single core will it still do 1080p reliably with both apps?? or do I shell out the extra 50$ and go dual core.

Thanks in advance for the advise.

Single core is fine here, it chokes a bit with default BG Loader thread count (flagging, movie lookups, etc), but this is tunable in AS.xml if you want. After the initial big scan into the db, things are smooth as usual.

You need 2+GB to allocate 512MB to GFX and dual channel for sufficient BW on the bus.

I didn't respond in the first place to be your go to. Use google and the forum search to research the products, I didn't just buy this thing on a whim with my fingers crossed.
