should give you this if you have soldiered everything correctly:

Bus 004 Device 002: ID 045e:0284 Microsoft Corp. Xbox DVD Playback Kit

Thats first step to verify.

I originally had soldered one together, then when I was having the aforementioned problem, I just bought a pre-made cable off ebay. USB to Xbox. Which I have my dongle plugged into. (plug in my donle, *snickers*).
