From the home menu, no matter if I press Movies, TV-Shows or Videos they enter the same menu, where my 2 sources (TV-Shows and Movies) are. I can then enter either one of them. How can they be set to point at different sources? I'd like TV-Shows to directly point at my SMB source folder containing TV-Shows and Movies to directly point at my SMB source movie folder. Can this be done via XBMC or must I hack some xml files to do so?

scan them to the library and those buttons will work. if not you need to mod home.xml of whatever skin you're using

Sounds to me like you havent set content on your folders Video view is basically File view in there press C on your Folder and go to set content.
Then TV shows will be in the TV section and Movies will be in the movies section.

i had exactly the same thing mate, i updated to the latest svn in the end and that cured it.
