#1
hey, i finally got my fortissimoIII installed and sending audio via the optical output, but for some reason the sound test/surround test doesnt work.
it shows that its working, but i get no sound out of it.

and i am getting 5.1 even though my receiver says im not (no idea why that is)

anyone have any idea why the sound test wouldnt be working?

finally found at least one answer.
the surround test only works on the analog output and not the digital output.
oddly, the eq also does not work when using the digital output on this card. you must use the eq on the receiver end.

just in case anyone was wondering...lol

Most digital outputs on sound cards are for pass through of audio only. Meaning, the card will not in any touch the audio stream. You wont be able to change volume, eq, levels, or anything in pass through mode from the card. All that has to be done by the receiver or speakers that is accepting the audio stream. It comes down to how SPDIF/Coax pass through works.
