I have a few files with AC3 Stereo sound. I don't get any sound with digital output from new versions of xbmc (just tried revision 23881).
These same files work perfectly using xine.
xbmc provides sound from these files if I set downmix to stereo or use analog output.
I can provide extra info, just let me know what exactly is needed.
There is a very similar issue reported at this Windows specific thread but I don't have any video shuttering.
