BUG: MKV massive audio problems
#1
FYI...

If you are not seeing this problem please let me know. I;m curious as to if this bug only occurs on specific hardware. I've seen it in both WinXP & Win7 on the same hardware.

Ticket #7477

When playing ANY MKV the audio sounds like a helicopter. Other files are fine, only affects MKV that I can tell. This occurs in MANY builds both GL & DX. I'm amazed no one has reported this as I've seen it happening for about 2 months.
I'm not an expert but I play one at work.

What builds specifically?

I haven't seen this problem. The vast majority of videos I have collected are in the MKV format, including ones I rip myself.
Windows 7 x64 Home Premium
Gigabyte MA78GM-U2SH Mainboard
ATI HD3200 Onboard
AMD 7750BE Dual-Core 4.00GB RAM
ATI HD3200 HDMI Sound
HTPC HMDI -> ONKYO TX-SR605 -> Panasonic TH-46PZ85U Plasma

Nope no issues with MKV's on my end (or any other file for that matter). What audio configuration are you using? Myself, I have Digital Audio with AC3 and DTS enabled. Do you have this problem outside of XBMC? What is your audio hardware? Maybe you are having a hardware and/or driver issue.

It happens on all builds after 22516 - both GL & DX

I may have found a pattern, or two...

I loaded 24102 DX yesterday and all was well until tonight, after watching for a few hours, then it happened. I'm now suspecting a memory leak and/or a problem playing MKV only AFTER playing an AVI with 2 channel audio.

Tonight I had two sound problem occur... The first 2 hours of playing MKVs and then AVIs was perfect - then I tried playing an MKV again and the "helicopter" happened... after restarting XBMC, no sound at all on any videos.

log with sound working properly...
