Auto login/auto start question
#1
So I have ubuntu 9.04 installed on an asrock 330, xbmx is installed and running fine. I did some minegetty (?) stuff to get it so I don't have to type my username and password when the box boots up, but now it logs in and just sits there. If I ssh to the box it will then go into xbmc and all is well. Is there something I can do to get it to go right to xbmc like it did before? Thanks in advance.

ps. I know this might be more suited to the ubuntu forums, but asking a question there seems like yelling a question to a passing car.

I managed to do something similar.

This fixed it for me:

Quote:sudo apt-get install xbmc-live python-apt

Yes, check the XBMCbuntu guide in wiki.

Lastmile, when I do that I get:

xbmc@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install xbmc-live python-apt
[sudo] password for xbmc:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
python-apt is already the newest version.
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
xbmc-live: Depends: xbmc-standalone (= 9.11~alpha1-jaunty1) but 9.04.1-jaunty1 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

Any ideas? I messed around with the stuff from the wiki suggested and still get the same result: boots to black screen (don't have to type user/pass), but when I ssh in to the box, xbmc starts up/shows itself. Thanks.
