Large files crashing xbmc
#1
Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum. Just installed xbmc on my HTPC over ubuntu 9.04 this weekend, after years of pleasure with Win XP + myHTPC + Zoomplayer.

I'm quite happy with the whole thing, except for 3 issues I'm still struggling with. I'm posting them in different threads to avoid confusion. I have spent time searching this forum to find a solution and didn't find one. Apologies if this has been covered already.

Issue 1 : I have a few HD files in my library. Usually mkv 720p movies, and also a 1080i .ts file. They all crash xmbc when I launch them. Is that a program limitation linked to large files, is it due to a codec issue, or is something just wrong with my whole setup ? My files are on a NTFS partition. Zoomplayer used to read them fine in my old XP setup.

Thanks a lot for your help.

It's most likely not the file size being the issue. Go to Video Settings and change Render From 'Auto Detect' to something other then VDPAU. Try Software or one of the shader options.

This worked for me.

I have a MB with the nVidia 7050 as the IGP.
