Partial playback of ISO files on ATV
#1
OS: ATV 3.0.1
Platform: ATV
Launcher: 3.2beta3
Install Method: Launcher
SVN: r24543

Playback of DVD aborts part way through for ISO files ONLY. Will play for ~45 minutes and then just go back to movie library screen. An H.264 encoded file of same movie works fine. Can reproduce consistently.

Was also able to reproduce on current XBMC build (ie., non alpha version available in current launcher). Sorry no SVN# but I think it is v9.04.1

Retrieving files from media server running Snow Leopard on an open SMB share. No network connectivity issues. See everything fine, including workgroup and all shares.

This occurs ONLY on ATV. Tried with MAC Pro and MacBook Pro and playback works fine.

XBMC.log - http://www.pastebin.ca/1670618
console.log - http://pastebin.ca/1670620
could not figure out how to upload crashreporter as XBMC does not crash, just aborts ISO playback.

Any and all help is appreciated.

can you try an iso on the local atv disk, I'd like to eliminate possible smb issues.

OK, copied ISO to ATV. Played fine. Good news that it is not something fundamental in XBMC, but bad news in that this is weird behaviour.

Looks like it's an SMB issue between the ATV and Mac Pro. Sill, I never had this issue before. I did upgrade to snow leopard two weeks ago and looking back, this is when it may have started. Certainly never before that upgrade, but not sure how long after upgrade until this bahaviour surfaced. Is there something that I should be looking for on the Mac Pro? Not very familiar with SMB. It's always has just been set it and forget it.

The xbmc.log fills with errors at 18:09:34.

Puzzling as I see all the shares fine and can start playback.

Thanks.

Shawn

PS> sftp is so slow. tried to get ftp working but have not had any success.

There are other reports here as well as in apple's forums of something being wrong with smb shares under 10.6.
