XBMC crashes back to Ubuntu...
#1
I am very new too xbmc and linux, but i've been able to get it running on my Packard Bell iMax mini (which is the same as the ACER Revo) for quite a while. Recently i am having a problem though.
When i start playing 720p h264 mkv's, they run absolutely fine for a few minutes and then from one second to another xbmc just crashes to Ubuntu with the sound of the movie continuing for about 20 seconds. If i restart xbmc and try to play the same video again, then it won't even start anymore. Only after a reboot I can watch a movie for a few minutes until xbmc crashes again.

As I am a total noob, I don't understand what's wrong... because everything worked great a while ago. I couldn't find any solution online as well, as i don't even know what exactly the problem is. I would appreciate it, if you could help me to fix this problem.

Here is my log:

It looks like the problem is in mplayer. Have you tried reinstallation? If you are using LIVE, you should make sure to burn the CD at a lower rate then 1/2 max speed for quality assurance.

After reading the log, I've found that XBMC does not like football...

It could be the matroska format. Does your recorder have the option to record in a different format, or show squeeze to a different format? This will not fix your issue, however it may provide a work-around for you while the developers do their work.

I am not using LIVE. Do you mean reinstalling xbmc or Ubuntu??

I actually used WUBI to install Ubuntu 9.04. Could that be part of the problem?? Because i forgot to mention that.

btw.. i was editing my last post while you were typing your last post.

I've never used WUBI, however it looks like it may import settings which are not expected by XBMC. While XBMC itself by nature is a self-contained program, it has many dependencies which may or may not be installed on your system because of the wubi roots.

Open a terminal, type apt-get update, then apt-get upgrade then apt-get build-dep to make sure your system and dependencies are up to date.

I tried that but everything was already up to date, so unfortunately it didn't solve my problem. Any other ideas??

I was having the same problem, but when I turned off Sync playback to display the problem went away. I am using nvidia ION chipset in VDPAU mode.

Turn it off or on?? This option was already turned off in my settings by default.
