does 9.11B have UPnP fixed?

I just want to know if UPnP works on linux/LIVE before I spend 8 hours upgrading and resetting all my settings.

Actually I reported this several times: the UPnP client does not work with a stock karmic amd64 , for some reason. I have a UPnP server which I try to access with XBMC, and XBMC never detects my UPnP NAS. Even when I explicitly point to it using a upnp:// URL it does not work.

Please post debug log ...
The normal XBMC log IS NOT a debug log, to enable debug logging you must toggle it on under XBMC Settings - System or in advancedsettings.xml. Use XBMC Debug Log Addon to retrieve it.

That's just the thing.. There IS no debug log. It's like it just calls xbmc.restartapp. Log file just ends. I contacted Codiq to increase the logging level. Then I switched my TV server over to Ubuntu with Myth. I no longer have the problem.

Here's my thinking.. I was running BTV as a TV Server before. For some reason BTV's UPnP server was causing XBMC to crash. BTV has a UPnP server built in for use with it's BTV Link client. It is inaccessable by normal means.

I'd be willing to put my old hard drive back in and get a log for you guys if the logging level was increased for UPnP. However, since I know that it just dead ends you can have an old thread I created.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with BTV's handling of unrecognized UPnP sources.

I do not get the XBMC restart anymore, but I still cannot find my UPnP server. Here is the debug log: http://pastebin.com/m72479879 . The only UPnP related lines however are the many:
Code:
09:01:07 T:140592414173200 M:2739798016   ERROR: GetDirectory - Error getting upnp://192.168.0.125/
09:01:07 T:140592414173200 M:2739798016   ERROR: CGUIDialogFileBrowser::GetDirectory(upnp://192.168.0.125/) failed

Well, like I said before I am not crashing anymore, but I'm missing the ability to control XBMC as a media render device from my iphone. I used to pick a server (my network attached storage) and a renderer (XBMC) and then pick a song or video to play and let the two of them sort it all out.

UPnP is broken and the logging for UPnP is very minimal. We could really use a increase of logging

My xbmc ( svn 24978 ) always had problems with upnp server too.

I can't play media with the Freebox ( a french internet provider boxe for Tv and media , having a upnp-av client ).

I can see the xbmc server and browse media but can't play them.

It works with Fuppes or other upnp server, but never succeed to make it to works with xbmc linux ( curiously, it works with xbmc for windows ) . For the moment i stick with Fuppes, but i'd like to have the library sharing of xbmc.

But not enough usefull logs to track down the problem for the moment. That would be a good thing to increase log level for upnp server.

Code:
11:38:13 T:2621414288 M:1195888640   DEBUG: Preparing upnp object for item 'videodb://1/2/418'
11:38:13 T:2621414288 M:1195888640   DEBUG: Building didl for object 'videodb://1/2/418'

iv noticed that trying to play back upnp music served from my Xbox (XBMC), via my Xbox360 dosent work either. XBMC is seen as a upnp server but when i select albums or artists etc, no tracks/albums/artists are listed.

iv noticed that some of the upnp options for selecting the shares have dissapeared from the settings. i asume this is part of the setings clean up that has been going on and that the music shares default to the music library, but it still dosent work.

using xbmc v24368 on the xbox.

When I try to stream Hulu through PlayOn to my XBMC computer it never works. It works perfectly when streaming through my Xbox360 so something must be wrong with XBMC I guess.

I have two installations of karmic amd64 and on both has running xbmc, one is dedicated xbmc machine the other is my notebook. I was trying to make the dedicated machine and its xbmc to share its media through upnp. I have activated all in Settings as said in wiki, also looking at the logs(with increased log level to 2) and nothing about upnp, only upnp server started. I have also tried using Andoid Andromote again with no luck. I was making tcpdumps and I saw the upnp broadcast coming to the xbmc which at that point is upnpserver but no reply. So it seems there is some problem with Karmic with upnp client and server part.

On the same network I tried and installing xbmc on windows machine is accessible through upnp using Andromote, but again when trying to access the same windows xbmc from ubuntu xbmc using upnp no luck. So upnp seems not working at all on karmic amd64.

I have tried xbmc 9.11 under amd64 on both gentoo and arch linux on 2 different machines. I know I do not have connectivity issues because UPNP worked on both machines when I booted into windows on one and used the livecd on the other.

I can verify that there is a problem with UPNP on amd64. When you browse for a UPNP server, nothing shows up in the search results (except ..). I have used both the 9.11 release and the svn build from 1/13/10. I will try another svn pull today and test it.

This is a real show stopper. I use both playon and tversity and am unable to get at my media.

Playon support is comming soon. However, the linux python support is the REAL show stopper.
