No video with XBMC 9.11-b1 [log posted]
So since I'm hearing there won't likely be a solution for this, for those of us lucky enough to have a PC (sorry laptop users) whats the cheapest card I can buy so I can use the DX version? I'm limited to PCI right now but I'm sure others would appreciate AGP and PCIe.

The reason I ask is because I don't want to take a trip (or order online) only to find out that it too doesn't support Pixel Shader 2.0.

I dunno why you all break your brain about such things Smile
We switched to DirectX because users complained about high cpu load with vsync on OpenGL and with DirectX everyone said it would be better.
I already warned about that switching to DirectX we would loose a lot of skilled devs who focus on Linux/OpenGL and we could stick with less support on this side. Nobody took this for granted.
Now we're switched and all whats getting asked is why is there more development effort for the OpenGL platform even though the main port is DirectX. Do people read the forum or do they forget so fast Huh

We don't have many win devs and even less with DirectX knowledge. So using shader 2.0 isn't difficult to implement but you need someone to code it. My spare time is enough to "understand" maybe 10-20% of XBMC and this isn't enough to fix or implement all the things which are so "required" for a high class media center.
Get me some high skilled win dev (ArtV you have time? Wink ) and all the things are only a matter of days Wink
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.

Have a look on xbmcmce.sourceforge.net and grab a copy of my OpenGL build and see if that works.

Otherwise I suspect you're looking at a new video card. Buying NVIDIA seems to be the safest option.

Had black screen, sound and menu bars at my friend. Always had issues trying to install dx Solved it likes this:

First i followed Falcdawg21 input here (post #6):

http://www.pchelpforum.com/general-softw...post463099

Then downloaded and installed DirectX SDK (February 2010) ~500mb here:

http://www.geeks3d.com/20100208/directx-...-download/

Then i downloaded xbmc-r28256-trunk here:

http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/win32/

Installed without dx and runtime 2008, finally worked.

I had this problem with XBMC 9.11, a white screen and no video.

I fixed it by making sure I had the latest version of directx my aged laptop could support (directx 9.0c), then installing the latest build of XBMC (xbmc-r33778-Dharma_beta2 - Sept 15th)), which I got here: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/win32/

Works like a charm. XBMC ROCKS!!!!!

by the way you can check your directx version by going to run and typing 'dxdiag'.

My laptop is:
Windows XP Servic Pack 3, all updates
directx 9.0c
display device: Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphic controller

Yes she's a bomb Big Grin
