Ultimate XBMC loosing focus thread
#1
I got seriously frustrated by my XBMC loosing focus every now and then. This was particularly depressing as I'm using a Bluetooth pilot, which stops working when the app is alt-tabbed to desktop. So I did some testing, googling, and here are all the steps I took. One of them finally did the trick, not sure which.

TweakUI
registry
  • The TweakUI method above should do the very same thing, but in case it doesn't work (it didn't for me)
  • start the registry editor of choice
  • Navigate to HKCU > Control Panel > Desktop
  • check if "ForegroundLockTimeout" key is there.
  • If it's not, go to edit menu, select new > DWORD value
  • In the new window name the new DWORD value "ForegroundLockTimeout"
  • Assign it a value of 30d40
  • Close the editor & reboot

AVG
  • If you're using AVG and recently updated to version 9.0, open the AVG panel
  • Open to Tools > Advanced settings
  • Navigate to Appearance (topmost option)
  • Disable the game mode
  • Apply and reboot

AVG - second part
  • If you still experience the same problem, apply this hotfix
  • reboot

Windows advanced text services
  • Another possible problem is the Windows' language settings.
  • To fix that follow this method to disable advanced text services

Hope that helps someone out there.
Cheers
