Enhancement video and audio player quality
#1
Hello all !
I'm a new fan of XBMC since the latest beta build Camelot with Confluence skin. Absolutely wonderfull !!! Cool
Thanks all !

Well, besides this frontend part, quite perfect, I was wondering why XBMC developers don't work with MPC homecinema guys, to implement directly this player which give the best quality for all videos ?
All is open source, then why lose time to make an other player which never be as good as MPC-HC ? Huh

And why not with foobar for the music ?

XBMC + Foobar + MPC-HC would give the best frontend ever made, and the best rendering video and audio playback even against blurays players like Pioneer LX71 or more expensive stuff. Cool

because mpc-hc and foobar is windows only and windows is but an afterthought for most of us.

Hi Kazuya, seeing you are French I guess you must be leeperry's friend. Check here, work is undergoing to allow for DirectShow based playback: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=61355

It already allows Reclock loading and working. When tiben20 is finished I suppose it will end up being quite similar to what you can achieve from inside MPC-HC.

There's even work for WASAPI support, here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=58315

Edit: anyway, the real issue here is the lack of dedicated Windows developers. There are some at work, even hard at work, but the project could definitely use more. I hope that when tiben20's work gets more exposure it will attract more devs.

Reclock like implementation: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=336538

We do care, but these things are quite complicated.

Yes, I'm Leeperry's friend.
Ok, thanks, I will have a look to those thread. Wink

The singularity of MPC-HC is the EVR Custom Vsync, which is the only renderer I know that never misses a frame.

Wasapi support sounds interesting too. Nod

Well, if you are friend with some MPC-HC developer... maybe you could put them in touch with tiben20. The poor guy is something of a hero, proceeding all by himself in a very complex task.

Yes I know Casimir666 who developed MPC-HC, but I didn't see him on forum for a long time. Don't know how much he is involved in this project now.
I will see what I can do.

Well, I change my mind !

Maybe foobar isn't necessary to improve sound music to the best.
Only reclock might help a lot !

Is it possible to put reclock in the audio section too Huh :p

I'd like to know how reclock is going to help audio.

Because now reclock resamples audio PCM stereo to 192khz and 24bits !
Even foobar can't do that as well ! Wink

All we need in XBMC is a VST bridge and reclock in output.
I think it's a lot easier to do, no ? Smile

That's a bit overkill, you might as well just implement a resampler in xbmc with libsamplerate.

Yes, you're right.
Libsamplerate 1.0.7 + plug-in VST and XBMC would be a great player !
And kernel streaming output !
