The Credential Manager just allows you to set the credentials for an entire domain. Then you don't even have to try and connect a network drive where it keeps prompting for your name/password (it's supposed to remember all that when you tick that option off, but it often forgets it anyway). In fact, using the Credential Manager, you don't have to supply username/password to the network drive at alll.
