Tablet PC to control xbmc?
#1
Hey friends..

my xbmc is running great.. my mediapc looks awesome and since I relocated to my new home the media wall is done and looks great..

...so far with movies.. Wink

Now I'm seachin' for a way to listen to music in a useful way - even when my tv is out.

o) the first way to solve this problem in a easy way would be something like a logitech squeezebox.. only the touch version looks g33k enough Big Grin - any other products not from logitech? found nothing on the web.. but i don't know what i should search for

o) the second way would be somethink like a touchscreen for my htpc.. customizeable.. but with cables.. not mobile.. and not that pretty and stylish

o) the third.. and problaby the coolest way.... a tablet pc (or something like this) - to connect to the mediacenter via rdp or even to xbmc's web interface. - fully customizeable, mobile, cool looking (and expensive??)

o) the forth way would be a smartphone with wlan.. just connect to the mediacenter xbmc webinterface and control it.. - easy to transport, cool looking, customizeable and mobile. (but what if my smartphone is not at home (because I'm not at home) - and my girlfriend wants to listen to music??

any ideas? how did you solve this problem? what are you using?

cheers

I use Sonos. While it's by no means cheap, it is a perfect solution and can be very easily expanded to cover multiple rooms at a later date by simply adding new Zone Players. The Zones can be controlled either by a small, wireless hand-held controller, or by their free Windows-based controller software.

Yes sonos is an option (I was thinking about) quite expensive if the HTPC is already in place though.

I'm just planning on how to do the same but for multi zone audio. Idea was various workspaces and tablet of forms that connects via remote desktop over network.. something like the Nokia N810 with linux hack.

Or cheaper still maybe on ebay the n770

I think this would be best until a decent remote soft is made available.. However maybe it does already exist.. I just havent found it yet..

I want to make the perfect home media center but I've come across a very tough decision: should I use Plex or XBMC(http://www.ahappydeal.com/product-127450.html)? I've heard great things about both platforms, and don't know the main differences. Can you help me decide?
