Windows 7 Error. Black screen etc.

Question
Hope you guys can help me out!

All of the sudden XBMC starts up a fullscreen black image. I don't know what I done or why it started. I've uninstalled and installed, same result. In Wiki it only says; press both thumbsticks and a box will ask you to reset options. Or something like that. I don't have any thumbsticks on my keyboard. :-P

Here's the log:

See if the xbmc menu entry contains -p and if yes remove it.
If that doesn't work try running it as administrator. Should run without but your logfile looks odd.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.

Okey, what do you mean by "-p" and how do I change/remove it? And why does my logfile look odd? :S

Go to the windows start menu, XBMC Media Center, highlight XBMC, choose properties and see if the destination xbmc.exe has a -p appended.
weird since in the beginning it shows that the special user path are located in the user profile directory which is correct but later on it tries to create directories in the installation directory which isn't correct.
Move guisettings.xml and profile.xml to a backup folder and try again.

Wow Dude! How does it feel to be the hero of the day (read night!)Huh

I had the XBMC "Black Screen of Death" on my W7 x64 Asus laptop with integrated Intel GMA X4500M GPU. I tried all kinds of manual DirectX setups and such, but to no avail...

Wierd thing was, that in AeroPeek the XBMC window rendered properly, and when I alt-tabbed to the XBMC window it also rendered as supposed in fullscreen mode. Once or twice, the window remained functional after releasing the alt+tabb keys, but not often/reliably...

And then I removed the two xml-files stated in your post, and HEY PRESTO! XBMC just launched without so much as a hiccup!

Dunno if this solution will work for others having the black screen issue, but I'm glad if I may be able to help someone!

Cheers!

I have the same problem from time to time, but its not caused by alt-tab as far as I can tell.

that's all the further it gets... then I have to ctrl-alt-del and end task on the xbmc process.

I just tried completely removing both the xbmc folder in program files and the one in the users folder... then reinstalled the latest svn build and it still will not load. I'm rebooting now to see if that helps.

still can't get it to load now... This build was working fine about an hour ago. All I tried to do was turn off the use a windowed full screen instead of true fullscreen option. I wanted to see if the 1/2 screen bug I had was finally fixed... Argh...

Any thoughts?
