Ideal hardware for xbmc available in the uk

Hi all,

I've read the rules, and think I'm allowed to post this, if any moderators don't like it please let me know ;-)

I've been using xbmc for a very long time on a chipped crystal xbox. I have always been impressed with it and can't think of a better media box, other than my TiVo, which is a slightly different thing.

I work at http://linitx.com, we specialise in mini-itx hardware, and we now have a range of ION based boards and boxes which are ideal for running xbmc.

Please have a browse of what we have, and email us or call us if you have questions.

Of particular interest are the following:
Ruvo Minicap 7
Asrock IONSTAR
Zotac IONITX motherboards
Jetway Atom 330 + ION barebones

We are also available on irc at irc://irc.nixhelp.org/linitx

I'm aware that often adverts are frowned upon on boards like this, so this will be my only post to announce that we exist. I will of course try to participate and help as much as I can.

Nick.

Ruvo looks like good value.

I'm wondering how quiet it really is and what size is the fan?

Anyone running xbmc on it? Curious as to how how well skins like Aeon are running on this platform.

cheers

I'm just wondering, with the zotac board, could you really build a mini ITX HTPC that's completely passively cooled? from my experience with the revo, the heat comes not so much from the Ion (even when decoding 1080p) but from the atom CPU, and e.g. the Aeon skin causes considerable CPU load. sure, that stuff runs fluid especially on the 330 mainboards, but what about the heat?

Maybe its just me, but the Revo, ahem, Ruvo doesnt seem like good value. The equiv. Revo can be had from ebay for less.

The barebones jetway again isn't far off the Asrock Ion, which I found for £230 a while back.

All in my own opinion of course.
