XBMC won't start? karmic, black screen or tty
#1
Hi,

Upgraded to latest beta in karmic, now when running the runXBMC I just get a black screen, it switches the videomode to 1080p.

running xbmc --standalone says it can't find X even thus its started...

Anyone care to make a step by step how to clean of xbmc and start from scratch?

Searched the forum and tested 69 stuff that was presented, but nothing seem to work.

Have you updated your video drivers manually?

I had a simmilar problem after installing 195 NVIDIA driver, and updating to latest beta later. I solved it reinstalling the NVIDIA driver (whatever version)

The driver updating thing is not for the driver itself. It is about kernel recompiling, according to new kernel.

I am not an expert, so I just download the driver from nvidia site, and run the installer (after stoping the X server). If you are using karmic I think you stop if from a terminal (control + alt + F2) with sudo stop gdm. You can also try sudo /ect/init.d/gdm stop. Then sudo sh NVIDIA....whatever.run That compiles (or whatever neccessary)
