[AppleTV] playback issue (dropped frames and out of sync video)
#1
Hi Davilla,

I have been reading and trying to figure this out myself, but I am at a loss. I have similiar problems to what the other user in this thread has described. I would like to post a log file but can't seem to figure out how to log into the apple tv with my mac to get this file.

I am getting dropped frames and out of sync video with .mkv files on the latest ATV flash version with xbmc 9.4.1. Thanks for any help you could lend

Need to ssh in and scp the file out, my sig has the path. Also the output from MediaInfo on your problem file will also help.

PS. Move this to a new thread as the original thread contained a mix of issues on various OSX platforms and that's real confusing to readers.

http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en, see the red "export" button.

Mac OS X. Built on May 26 2009 (SVN:20677), Ancient History, You might try 9.11.b2, If your launcher is up to date, you should see it in downloads.

Really need the MediaInfo output, I can't tell if you are trying to play something that the AppleTV can handle or not.

1280 x 720p, 5701 Kbps, [email protected], CABAC with 5 ref frames. Not enough CPU to handle this with out getting aggressive with ffmpeg's skiploopfilter and that's going to make the quality really suffer.

You will need to transcode it to play this on the AppleTV.

thanks Davilla,

thanks for the reply. I am about ready to give u on AppleTV as I have over a terabyte of these type of files that I would love to able to stream to my monitor in my bedroom. AppleTV was my hope. It has been nothing but a huge frustration.

Thanks for your efforts to make it better, but Apple should either get in the game completely, or give it up.

I think I will try the Qnap

I have been following this thread for some time now. I actually purchased to of the cards and have them waiting in standby. I had hoped for a workable driver/solution by now, but there is no sign of when this will ever come to fruition.

Every day I get more impatient as I have no use for the ATV other than buying movies which I already have. Any word as to when you might have a working decoder combo so that I could hold out?
