My New HTPC Build, please advise.
#1
Hi all, looking at building a new HTPC, planning on running XBMC on Windows so I need something powerful enough to handle at least 720p until DXVA is working properly on XBMC.

I plan on running Windows XP, however I have chosen Geforce drop in incase I change to linux later. (and the mobo has X4500 as a fallback).

(Australian Dollars)
Case: Lian Li PC-C37 $195
PSU: Corsair CX400 400W $69
Motherboard: GA-EG41MF-US2H mATX $99
CPU: Intel E6300 $86
RAM: 2gig DDR2 800 Kingston $52
Video: MSI N210 $48 (low profile, passive cooling)
DVD: None
HDD0: WD Green 1.5G $140
Remote: Dinovo Mini $164

Total: $853

Can anyone see any compatibility issues, or has any other suggestions?

Also, if you wanted to make it cheaper, what would you do?

Lastly, how do low profile brackets work, do I need to buy a specific one for the graphics card, or are they generic?

Thanks!

The low profile ready cards normally include in the packaging a standard size plate and the low profile plate that can be switched. From the parts that you list the prices seem decent. I think that you can save some money on the case, the 400w power supply is probably more than was is needed, and the remote is pricey as well.
