Opening unknown file formats with external players?
#1
Hi all.

My first post did not give any response so I try again, still hoping...

I was wondering if it is possible to let XBMC show and open file types that are not known to the player.

My setup is a ASROCK ION with Windows 7 and XBMC with currently the Aeon skin. Since the limitation on hardware acceleration with hd file formats as mkv, mts and so forth I took the advince of using external player to open these. Link: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1185529
This works perfectly.

However what I also would like to do is to be able to play full hd disc from harddrive inside XBMC. For example the Arcsoft TotalMedia player is able to open the index.bdmv from the BDMV folder. So I would like to make that player the external player for full hd disc. However XBMC does not show the bdmv files in the internal browsing.

So the question is: It is possible to set up XBMC to show these "unknown" file types and hence being able to play them with an external player?

If there is an easier way to my goal I would of course also be interested in knowing.
