XBMC being reported on google code by some guy.
#1
Hi guys,

I'm new to the community but I've used xbmc on my old xbox for quite some time now and feel obligated to report you or to make of your notice that someone is trying to get the content from the google code hosting removed on the premise that "the XBMC project provides users with access to illegally ripped TV shows through it's plugin system".

The people from google responded that they will not act since he's not the copyright holder of such content.

But maybe it's the time to think of a new solution for the svn hosting.

Thanks

So by his reasoning, google itself should not develop its search engine any further since it allows access to illegal content online. Wink

that guy is a douchebag.

.. Seriously, WTF? Are you going to try to ban anything that gives you access to illegal content? Ok, let's play that silly game....

I want to ban the following items because they give users access to illegal content and are commonly used to produce such illegal content:

cd and dvd burners
guns & knives
telephones
Computers
web search engines
sticky notes
all IRC networks.
all sites which host the jolly roger cook book.
dual audio tape players with record function
floppy diskettes
memory sticks
books with warnings that say you are responsible for your actions.

oh, wait, I forgot, the point of this thread is not to ban the items, but to ban the method of access to those items

Well, only one thing to do now..... Everyone line up, we're going to chop off people's hands.

I like Google's response. Paraphrased, "Too bad. We're not going to be 'big brother' until we're absolutely required to." Laugh

I hope that next time James Rhodes searches for his name he finds out that Google.com is in on it too. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sourc...&aqi=n1g10

I feel alot safer knowing that he is policing the internet for my safety. Wait, there are things much more illegal and depraved available on the internet than TV rips? Maybe he should be policing that instead....

sigh.
