Intermittent prompts for username / password on SMB shares
#1
i have an intermittent problem in which some of my SMB shares prompt for a username and password. these shares are not password protected. right now, for example, it won't access my music videos folder, which is the primary use. it will access the other shares just fine from the same computer. i have no windows live thing to uninstall (i read this on another thread) and i only use simple file sharing (will not consider changing this).

any ideas? for what it's worth, this has only happened on xbmc live on my nettop. my original xbox never did this. using 9.04.1 R20654 (compiled may 25). SVN R1470.

Read http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_submi...Bug_Report

We only prompt you for credentials if the server has prompted us. Good odds something isn't setup right somewhere.

I've created a ticket and attached a debug log.

I would tend to agree with you that something is not setup correctly except for the fact that it's intermittent. At times, I do seemingly nothing and the problem resolves itself. I have to say though when it comes to getting it back to a working state, it makes you want to tear your hair out! Would appreciate any help.
