[LINUX] HOW-TO Get a kick-butt library legally
#1
My library is constantly rotating and has no commercials. New shows are added every day and removed as space is needed.

Here is a few pictures of my library

MythSExx, now known as mythicalLibrarian did all the work. I just selected the shows.
Ubuntu GNOME Sucessfull scan:

GNOME notifications also occour when a file move is in progress and when generic guide data is supplied.

mythicalLibrarian scrapes library information from theTvDb, so you can just use theTvDb as your show scraper! You can use your favorite movie scraper as movie information is extrapolated from the MythTV guide database.

mythicalLibrarian also sends a notification to XBMC, and XBMC to scan the library, and then clean out deleted files.
xbmc confluence skin notification:

It also cleans out it's own commercial data.

MythTV handles the files, XBMC organizes the library You can get MythSExx from my signature. You can get mythicalLibrarian here: http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=MythicalLibrarian .
mythicalLibrarian is currently a work in progress.
Use mythicalLibrarian to make a library out of your MythTV files. Leave the recording to MythTV and use XBMC as your library.

It supports HD! It just so happens I am currently working on my antenna for my dual tuner HDHomeRun. My drill ran out of battery though so I'm at a stand still.

MythTV handles the files as I said before. MythTV is the backend. MythSExx and mythicalLibrarian interface MythTV recordings with XBMC, by referencing the mythTV local database and theTvDb.com. Both of them will put a symbolic link in place of the original file which MythTV will follow when it tries to delete or access files. If there is enough information to identify the show with a Title and subtitle, or a original airdate and it is in TheTvDb, MythSExx will add it to your library. mythicalLibrarian does all of that and Movies. mythicalLibrarian also has better scraping abilities and interfaces with XBMC's internal notifications and other built-in commands.

mythicalLibrarian is just that, it's a bash librarian. It will file any show it receives identifiable information about in your library. It will also work with Tivos apparently.
Use mythicalLibrarian to make a library out of your MythTV files. Leave the recording to MythTV and use XBMC as your library.

outleradam,

Thanks for taking the time to create this. Exactly what I need. My plan is to move the shows from my Myth box out to a NAS which is were all of the XBMC box will pull from. I didnt see anything that will handle multiple XBMC boxes (though I may have just not gotten that far yet), is there any easy way to add that in?

Thanks
tim-

well, the XBMC commands currently only go out to one XBMC box for the purposes of an on-screen notification, library updates and library cleanup. You will have to manually update the others for now. I will see what I can do about multiple XBMC boxes after mythicalLibrarian is "done", it is currently 98% "done" with the specs I set fourth to do.
