I am building a new pc to use exclusively with xbmc, it has to play 1080p as well as hd audio (truehd, dtama). Based on my research this one will, any input is appreciated, should I make any upgrades?

intel core i5-750, quad core
4g ram
asus maximus 3 gene motherboard
sapphire raddeon 5870, 1G video card
1.5tb hard drive (I have a 10.5tb nas)
lite-on bluray drive
thermaltake bach case
windows 7 ultimate

I'm pretty new to XBMC myself but I've done some reading...

Base on the fact that you mentionned that the computer will be used "exclusively" for xbmc :

Blue ray is not supported for now with xbmc.
Win7 Ultimate... you could save a couple of $$$ there
Don't quote me on that but most comments mention that quad core CPUs are a little bit over kill even 1080p MKVs.

I'd say that's very much overkill. I went from running W7 on a i7 920 OC'd @ 3.6 ghz, 6 GB ram, GTX 295 to an Asrock Ion 330HT-BD - and I'm not noticing any difference in playback of 1080p mkv's at all. (fanart has a minor delay before loading, that's all really)

I do know that it doesn't support True HD like you want but less powerful specs should do just fine.. Wink

What part of this system is my limitation to True HD? I'm pretty sure the graphics card supports it.
