AVI Sound Problem in XBMC Ubuntu 9.10
#1
Hello all,

I've been using XBMC for a few months now and noticed that every now and then a movie will play but without sound. Just yesterday it occurred to me that (i think) every movie thus far that I have experienced this problem with has been an AVI. VOBs and MKVs, etc, work perfectly.

It seems like this would be a codec problem, but i'm not sure on how to update codecs, or if this is possible or even the problem! Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

well guys, if you really want help, post mediainfo of these specific files and pastebin debug logs. also tell us your audio setup (hardware as well as settings in xbmc)
inside an .avi container there can be nearly every thinkable codec!
just complaining and moaning won't help Wink

I am using optical cable to connect my pretty old Yahama amplifier.

MKV 1080p 720p movies are always working perfectly but some tv-shows which are .avi doesnt give any sound Sad

I have tried many things like alsamixer, there is nothing muted.

XBMC settings:
Audio output: digital
dolby digital AC3 capable receiver (on)
DTS capable receiver (on)
Audio output device (default)
Passthrough outputdevice (iec958)
Downmix multichannel audio to stereo (on)
