After upgrading and even though this setting is still on (tested on Confluence and T! 2.11) my "Artists" node shows all the artists that are only present on compilations.

What changes have been applied to the default XBMC regarding compilations? Is this feature deprecated?

The setting is now "Show artists" rather than "Hide artists".

Well played!

Since the spanish translation still shows "Hide" it turns out that with this entry switched on you are showing the artists instead of hiding them.
I turned off the "Hide artists..." and now they are hidden.

EDIT: Hmm, it appears that's not the only setting where Hide has given place to Show but the translation has not been updated yet.
