keymaps / harmony remotes / custom remote codes on Apple TV?
#1
Hi All,

I'm just wondering if anyone can clarify whether the ATV when running with XBMC will support additional remote codes (other than the standard 6 atv buttons)? In particular, if you had a harmony remote, could you program xbmc running on ATV to understand different remote codes and respond accordingly via keymap configuration.

I couldn't tell from the following threads whether this was supported or not:

What I was initially curious about, is whether there is an easy ATV-remote keypress combo that can be used to terminate XBMC and return to ATV whilst playing a movie?

The various context menus that popup from what I can tell contain no option to shutdown the app. Rather, you must keep pressing the apple button to get back to the main screen etc.

It looks like the xbmc keymap has shutdown process support, I'm just not sure if you can accomplish this on ATV.

In case you are not autoboot (MultiFinder) to XBMC, the learned buttons can be used and mapped within XBMC and on your Harmony.
That gives you some additional buttons to map. Luckily keypress mapping is context sensitive, thus per scenario (e.g. you are watching Movies) same button can do different. Gives a lot of options.

Sorry, I don't have my ATV with me, so I just can you give the direction.

Full usage of Harmony you only can get with Linux distro on ATV.
