Hardware suggestions?

Hello everybody,

since discovering xbmc a week ago I am hocked! 1 Trillion Kudos for you developers! Thank you!

Now I would like to give my xbmc installation a decent platform to run and build an always on standby media station. I tried an old notebook with intel pentium m 1730, but this seems not to be good enough to run 720p. Unfortunatelly.

Now I am looking into nettops with atom 320 and ion. I would like to be able to connect to a beamer over hdmi and to a touch screen display through dvi.

Unfortunatelly I have not found a nettop that meets following requirements:

- intel atom 320 or better
- ion
- NO optical drive
- hdmi output
- dvi output
- min 4 usb ports
- price around 250 Euro

Do you guys have a good suggestion? I want to play 720p or even better true hd to be future proof :-)

I looked into revo, but that one unfortunatelly has only vga and hdmi, like most others.

Another thing is, that I currently only have a 5.1 receiver without decoder. Looks like I have to upgrade that one, too. Right?

Thank you for any help.

Not aware of any that have both hdmi and dvi.

Why don't you use hdmi and a vga to dvi adaptor?

yeah most no longer include DVI since you don't really "need" it on an HTPC 90% of the time and an adapter is like $2.

do you believe you can make a dvi signal out of a vga signal? Does not sound plausible to me.

I found 2 nice ones, fairly unknown but seam to be great!

DVI passess both analogue and digital signals and adaptors and cables for it are common place and cheap.

Not entirely true, DVI can pass digital, analog, or both I believe. Most are only digital at this point.

so what is the reason anyway to come up with different connectors? I believe you can pass a vga signal through a vga connector, but not a dvi through vga. Otherwise it would not have made sense to introduce new connectors. Right?
