I will be completing my HTPC build this evening and want to use XBMC as the software for storing mt media. I dont know much about the software other than I love the way everything looks when its all setup. My question to the forum is what do I need to know before I get started setting everything up?

What format should my DVD file be in?

What format should my music be in

What all do I need to get it running smoothly?

Any and all suggestions and help would be appreciated.

Since I'm new to XBMC I can only help a bit.

The obvious.....I would keep all media separate. Have a folder for movies, tv shows and music.

Don't forget the new and friendly Quick Start Guide! Keep movies, tvshows, and music in separate folders, and this should get you the rest of the way.
