for xbmc live, whats the best remote that will pretty much work without much hassle with all of the functions?

I've had a look at a few guides about getting the original Xbox remote to work with xbmc for linux. I've bought an adapter off ebay so I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of an easy guide to follow.

Which distribution? I have the original Xbox dvd kit, remote & receiver, plus an xbox to pc usb adapter & no joy so far.

I'm running XBMC under Linux Mint 8.
