HDMI Audio issue - ISOs & MKVs not working?
#1
Question
I have tested this extensively - ONLY ISOs & MKVs don't send audio, AVIs, Music, etc work fine. I have tried a few builds, including the posted release, Camelot.

I always get... "Failed to initialize audio device" - no matter what device I set it to in Settings\Audio.

This was working perfectly before I switched my system (old system, ATI 4350 - new system, on-board ATI 4300)

I installed the latest ATI drivers DL'd from their site.
HDMI audio works fine inside Windows 7 and with other apps, even XBMC.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

this was a driver issue... keep installing new drivers until something works! Wink

I spoke too soon... this is still a problem

Audio work on OpenGL builds but not on DirectX builds.

I'll bug it in TRAC.

I'm getting the same issue. I'm using a nVidia card with HDMI out and it has a built in sound card to be able to send the audio over HDMI. I can't post logs or what revision I'm using because I'm currently at work.

I'll try and do that later tonight.

Hi all.

Same here...
I got "failed to initialize audio device" when i select "digital audio" and Hdmi out.
When i select analog audio, then i have 2 channel audio on HDMI.
Other apps work ok with HDMI audio...

OS: WinXP SP3
Graphic card: Asus EAH4670 1GB (Ati).

Download the ATI HDMI driver from here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/

It will work nicely Smile

Just make sure to uninstall the original ATI HDMI driver - sometimes windows will reinstall it on startup, overwrite with this driver and it should be good to go.

It also allows WASAPI output to work from XBMC via HDMI.

nm. when going directly from a computer to a tv via hdmi you have to uncheck all of the dts and 5.1 receiver buttons.
