I just did a fresh install of the latest XBMC SVN PPA (have no idea the rev number since all I get is the XBMC splash and then crash to prompt), nvidia 190.53 drivers, and Alsa 1.0.22 on a Minimal Karmic install. I have successfully done this install on three other boxes running similar and exact hardware without this problem.

All I see is the XBMC splash screen for 1 second then it drops to prompt. Each time it leaves a crash log and the latest is here:

Any ideas?

You don't have libcurl installed.

Thanks! apt-get install curl fixed the problem.

Very odd though. I have never had to manually install Curl before as it was always taken care of during apt-get install xbmc as a dependency. Wonder what else didn't get installed...
