forgive me if this is a feature that's staring me in the face but is there a way to password protect and lock the keyboard (my kid mashes it while watching cartoons)

i found a perl script, aptly titled lock-keyboard for-baby that i trigger with a shortcut but it only works when xbmc is windowed

is there a way to make it (or anything else) work during full screen?
