XBMC Live or Linux Build ?
#1
Hi all

I have built a XBMC live on my Revo last night and now wonder if I should have installed linux ubuntu and then XBMC for linux

I used the LIVE and booted from USB Pen drive then installed onto a 320GB drive

What is the pros and cons of live vs linux install ?

Many Thanks

I guess it all depends on your level of comfort with Linux. I have tried every different method of install and would recommend XBMCbuntu.

This is a question I've been wondering about. I have a Revo with full Ubuntu installed, but I've been having issues with it freezing, so I'm wondering whether to reinstall and perhaps try Live instead.

Also, some (up to date) guides talk about installed XBMC on top of Ubuntu 9.04. Why would anyone do that when 9.10 is out and stable?

Does Live allow installation of other things? I use Deluge (with the webUI), and I share stuff across the LAN with Samba. I also use the original Xbox remote (i.e. lirc)

Also, is there any reason to go for the xbmcfreak version rather than the standard XBMC Live version? I'd like to install it to the HDD. I take it both can be updated in the normal fashion (apt)?
