[appletv] SMB sharing suddenly nonfunctional
#1
Yesterday, I noticed that 1 of my 10 SMB shares evaporated on my XBMC install. I added it back. All was well. This morning none of my shares are visible. I can ping the appletv from my mac with the shares. I cannot however ping my mac from my appletv, with either the ip or appletv.local.

Any ideas?

Both boxen can now ping each other. "Enable Stealth Mode" was enabled on the Mac. SMB is still nonfunctional however. When attempting to browse my existing SMB shares, I get:

"Remote Share Could not connect to network server"

Logs are forthcoming

Well heck. Its fixed, but the way I did it makes no sense.

I went into System Preferences > Security > Firewall.

I clicked "Allow all incoming connections", then immediately back to the way it was "Set access for specific services and applications"

After this, all was well again. Keep in mind this was after multiple reboots/restarts of XBMC, appleTv, the mac doing the serving, router, switches. In every conceivable order.
