Key Mapping don`t work
#1
Hi

I have tried to set up the key mapping to work with this:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Glo...Keymapping

But, f.eks. the letter C for context menu, dosn`t work at all..

Is there changed somthing in this, changed the keys that do what or something?

Eaven if I puch the C letter on the keyboard, it dosen`t happen anything. It
just search up the letter C in the movies... Not open the menu for the movie.

Is this guide I refered to (the link) to old?
Where is the new one, if thats old?

If you need more info, just ask.

keymaps are in system/keymaps/

i suspect you have your capslock on or something silly like that, cause 'c' definitely works.

Found the keymaps... Thank you.

Suddenly, it worked... I don`t know why... But still I think this was a little bit
wierd... Because it worked with alt+c... But know it works with just the c...

Thanks for the help anyway...

Then I try again to get some answers...

I don`t understand anythong right know.

If I open the program, and use just the keyboard, it all works fine.
But, if I try to use my remote, it don`t work. The if I oush Info(I) it searches up the letter I, instead of opening the info on the screen. And if I have done this one time, the I on the kyboard do the same, search instead of opening the info.

I use, an harmony remote (525). And that is programmed with an MCE remote.
(copied the ir signals over to the 525)I use EvenGhost to emulate the keys,
that had worked fine before. But know, it don`t.
And in the EventGhost, if I push the Info button on the remote (I) it says that I push it, and it generates the letter I, like it shuld.

This also the same for the button END on the keyboard, this normaly exits XBMC, but when I have tried to use the remote, this only take me to the end of my movie list.

Is there anything I have misunderstod?

Kindly

Your remote is sending SHIFT-I in that case.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

might be sometihg with eventghost and xbmc rght now.
mine harmony remote thru xbmc works fine when xbmc has only been open a little while, but then, only the keys i have mapped to actual kays in the system work. none of the remote buttons that use actions in the xbmc plugin for eventghost work .

it's really weird, but my log file shows a crap tonne of the same error

Quote:18:45:35 T:3916 M:2495754240 NOTICE: ES: Starting UDP Event server on 127.0.0.1:9777

18:45:35 T:3916 M:2495754240 ERROR: ES: Could not listen on port 9777

check your error logs, see if you got something similar.

Hi, I don`t use any XBMC plugin. Just out of the box, and made EventGhost use the mapping that is original in XBMC..

But still, there is something thats seems a little bir vierd

You seem to be having a terrible time with something which in theory, given your set-up should be relatively simple.

I too have a Harmony Remote (the One) and while higher spec, works on the same principles.

First of all I would have to recommend uninstalling eventghost (IMHO an abomination of a programme - tried to take over all my remote commands and only uninstalling got rid of my living hell). Secondly follow this tutorial http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=54466 - I don't know why no-one has pointed this out to you before, but here we go. Thirdly the only problem I had was that the 'Green Button' work around didn't hold focus for me, with that in mind I eventually managed to get launch from Green Button following this guide http://inchoatethoughts.com/launching-xb...ter-remote.

Save yourself a lot of pain and follow these - and ditch eventghost - it isn't needed with your set-up.

@steelman1991:

This seems to work very good... But: When I turn off XBMC with the keypress END it don`t just turn off the XBMC, but it puts the PC to sleep.
This I don`t want to happen...
I don`t know, howe this is happening...

Can this be in the harmony setup program. Or is this a computer problem.

This never happend when I used EventGhost. It just shut down XBMC.
Like it shuld.

Hope someone can help.

Sorry Petter I don't use a single keystroke to back out of xbmc, just the 'back' key until I get to the home screen, then exit from there (its only 2/3 keypresses from anywhere in xbmc).

So, you don`t shut down XBMC?
I will do that, because I use the machine to other things also.

Is there a way to fix this.

I don`t understand why the pc is going into sleep. Because END is not and command that can shut down the computer.
Coult this be because I have mapped the power button as turn off XBMC?

Oh yes I shut down xbmc all the time, just not by using a single keystroke, if for example i am in Movies detail screen I use the 'back - or backspace (if using a keyboard command) keypress to return from there to the main screen, from where I then close down.

If you have mapped that key to the power button from an mce remote, then I think that may be your problem, an mce remote power button, does just that 'shuts down the pc' - you might want to look at an alternative method if wanting a single button action to close xbmc from anywhere within the application - which is what I assume you want to do.

You could try setting the remote up in the Harmony software as an "MCE Keyboard". Which would emulate this device:
