Found this a few weeks ago - look great:

Would love this for a Zotac ION 330 system.

Also in a similar vain, a member posted this series of images from their XBMC setup - would love to know the name/model of this case - hoping said user makes a return Smile (thread lost in the server crash).

Oh boy - my heart just stopped.... oh, there is goes! Smile

This case looks a bit different to the H5 one I posted, but your right, it matches those photos in the Flickr account...

For that much money I think I would rather put a higher spec Intel/AMD processor and make it a desktop machine.

Yeah, the case is quite an investment and although I currently use it for my HTPC there's nothing stopping me from using the case for other purposes in the future. Just to confirm that it is the 2500 series case from ATech Fabrication. It's all aluminum and that's what adds to the cost of the case but it's worth it if it's part of a higher end system setup. Not quite worth it if you stick it in the closet. I owe one of the members instructions for removing the heat sink of a Zotac ION board just don't remember who it was since the forum disaster wiped out that thread (Carbonite anyone?... XBMC?). Let me know if it's either of you and I'll post.

Yeah I remember that - I think it was actually "PeterW".....

He had the ION 230 setup, running a bit hot. Thanks for that info about the case - I do love it very much - but the cost is a killer, if I blow that much on a case I would rather make it my new desktop and put in something more beefy (maybe a 45W AMD chip) - would be perfect for my life as a web developer spending most of my time in text editors/IDE's anyway - and the tax man get the bill anyway Smile

I'm keen to see this first case I posted once it hits the streets, since it seems they are doing a bigger run of units, rather than your case makers whom I get the impression are pretty much building from scratch to customer specs - which is really impressive, but would be adding to the cost.

Out of interest, what's the heat of your CPU/Chipset after video playback?

EDIT: Actually, looking at this one (http://atechfabrication.com/heatsync_300...r_form.htm) for $400US + Zotac heatpipe kit - I could nearly justify it Big Grin

Just finished Terminator Salvation and the temperature is 42C. I have it inside a cabinet with some venting and since the case is all aluminum it's able to draw and dissipate most of the heat away.

I considered that case as well but I ultimately chose the 2500 in case I wanted to have a separate video card down the road. The 300 is not bad though.

I'll go ahead and post instructions for the heatsink removal and ping PeterW.

Geez - that's decent temp..... holds it really well. Impressed.

If a case manufacturer could make a similar model in greater numbers that would certainly bring the cost down - those guys you bought from do some really impressive work - so can see where the costs go Nod

I've owned cases from several manufacturers (Antec, Silverstone, etc) and the ATech case was the "Lexus" of them all. Extremely well build, solid, and top notch quality.

No, it was before they came out with the heatpipe cases.

Being a mechanical engineer, I'd love to get my hands on that case and tinker with it a bit...
