linux on mac network
#1
Im starting to look into leaving my mac safe world. AppleTV seems to not be good enough for xbmc compared to a revo 3610. My aged ppc mac mini does not have the grunt to run xbmc and watch DVD rips at the same time. Bless it.

So it might be time to move (gulp)

Set up is basicly an old G4 (400 AGP) running 10.4.11 cat6 wired network as the media server with a few 1TB usb external hanging of it. (mac journaled)

So my question.. if I run linux version of XBMC on a revo can i see a apple network?

You should try Linux and XBMC on the AppleTV; it's working absolutely great for me, especially when combined with the Broadcom CrystalHD card.
But to answer your question, just enable Windows file sharing on your Mac and you should be able to see it in XBMC on Linux.

awesome so all good on that front. Thank you.

See it does hurt so much thinking that I might not be getting an apple product. You getting on fine with yours then?
