I have been running into a lot of issues running 1080p on personal SVN builds. They play fine on DXVA, but not when set to standard. I get a lot of dropped frames. Even on my i3-530 it drops frames like mad, but if I switch to MPC-HC using FFDshow with FFMpeg-MT selected for AVC it runs smooth as silk. In fact the CPU load never exceeds 30%.
I know that XBMC recently merged the latest FFMPEG code. Is there any chance of using the MT version for AVC playback?

I think developers said they don't want to use ffmpeg-mt until it get merge to official ffmpeg. I read somewhere ffmpeg-mt will start to merge to ffmpeg soon.
I'm using i3-540 with quite recent build of XBMC and have no problem with playing 1080p. I get about 30% CPU use with demuxed h.264 bluray. So it is not the problem of XBMC itself. you should try older build or even 9.11.
